Little Friends

Well, Christmas is coming and I've been wanting to make some cute little friends for Pearly and her fast approaching, yet to arrive little sister.

I found some delicious wool felt (I sound like a moth), and created a design for the following fellows:

Each little friend has a pocket on his chest for slipping in nice notes, pretty little pictures, or tiny
trinkets. I embroider their faces by hand and Adam sews them up. Quite the production crew.

These are actually up for sale in the shop, with many more soon to come.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

It's that spookable time of year and I love it! If I had my way, the week of Halloween would be a legal holiday (or holiweek). There's just too much ghoulish fun to squish into one tiny evening.

Some of my favorite Halloween celebrations include:
♦Making caramel apples
♦Pumpkin carving
♦Costume contests
♦Masquerade Balls (held in the front living room among tiny princesses, swaggering pirates, and assorted detectives)
♦ Donut eating contest (sugar donuts are hung from a string above you and you try to be the first to eat yours-gotta love the avalanche of sugar when you do this)
♦Decorating pumkin sugar cookies
♦Trick or treating
♦Making Goblin Goo (bright green dyed popcorn balls)

And last but not least:
♦Watching old time classic scary movies such as:
Arsenic and Old Lace
And Then There Were None
The Hound of the Baskervilles (it has to be the one with Basil Rathbone)
The Mummy (with Boris Karloff)
It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Have a Happy Halloween!!

A Royal Fox

I'd like to present one of my favorite characters from the ROYAL MENAGERIE:
Tytan, a Fox among foxes.

He's fond of chocolate cake, pumpkin spice donuts, caramel apples, hot chocolate with dollops of whipped cream, and things that go squeak. His favorite color is vermillion (suprise, suprise).

Tytan is very much the gentleman, but has a very dry and rather acidic sense of humor. He is an aspiring social commentator, but he prefers the story form over a dissertation. He would be a very excellent writer, if only he could get past the first page.

Hurray for Fall!

I realize Autumn hasn't officially started yet, but cool nights and fading leaves get me so excited for it, I have to skip ahead a little. Besides, now that summer is over, I might as well start celebrating Fall.

While at the bookstore the other day, I came across Moleskine's new color for their journals-cranberry red. Nothing says Fall more than cranberry red journals. I really love the vintagey look of them with their new illustrations (also with a couple of earth colored books):

They'll be coming to the shop soon!

Speaking of writing materials, I've been wanting to do stationary sets for over a year and I finally have had some made! I wasn't sure how they would turn out when I ordered them, and when they arrived, I was almost afraid to look. But, after seeing the way they turned out, I could spend a small fortune on making more postcard sets.

Feel free to stop by the shop, these postcards are up!
